Bride & Groom Prep Shots

1x camera / 60 fps / no external audio

We want natural light- Shots must use the window as a key light or fill light.

Please turn off tungsten lights so we don’t have mixed light temperatures.

Bird feeder with three birds on it, flowers, houses, trees, and cars in the background.

Exteriors:

We want exterior shots that have movement(birds, wind, etc.)

A young girl in a blue dress stands outdoors with her hands together, near a display of various pink and white dresses hanging on a rack, with a basket of pink and white flowers placed below.

Dress movement:

Ask for help from a mom, bridesmaid or kid to help hang the dress, fix the dress, do yoga in front of the dress… have fun with it!

Detail movement:

Ask for help from a bridal party member to be your hand model and put a ring or shoe into the shot

A woman with dark hair and a white blouse is smiling and winking while a makeup artist applies makeup near her eye. The makeup artist is wearing a black T-shirt and a black face mask.

Makeup:

Close ups of the feet/hands/face and a silhouette can ensure you get good coverage of the makeup chair.

A woman opening a bottle of bubbly wine or champagne with a smile

Robes:

Prioritize fun here. Use champagne, balloons or whatever is around. I have them compliment the bride as well.

Two women smiling and looking at something off-camera, indoors, with sunlight coming through a window.

Putting the dress on:

Moving around and getting close ups of the zipping and everyone’s faces will ensure enough coverage. Ask the mom if she thinks her daughter looks beautiful to get them to cry/laugh.

A group of seven women in black strapless dresses laughing and talking in a kitchen, with a bride in a white dress in the foreground.

First looks with bridesmaids/dad:

The reactions of the bridesmaids and dad are priority here. Stand behind the bride first, then move to get a reverse of the bride.

Person in white shirt sitting on a chair, opening a gift wrapped in brown paper tied with a ribbon, with a small white box and some items on the table.

Letter reading/gift opening:

Close ups of hands opening letters/gifts (cropping out the head) and reactions with the head can ensure we have something to cut to in the edit.

A man in a purple shirt adjusting the bow tie of another man in formal attire, both smiling outdoors.

Groom getting ready

Close ups of the groom getting on the shoes and watch are great. Have someone help him with the tie and ask them if they have funny stories about the groom while they fix him up.

Six men wearing martial arts uniforms stacking on top of each other in a humorous pose in a living room.

Fun Bridal Party Prep:

At the very least ask them to do a big cheers to the bride or groom. If they are game for dancing or a pyramid or whatnot, go for it!

A dog lying on a bed in a bedroom with dark paneled walls, a large headboard, and two white nightstands with lamps.

Extras:

Children, animals, alcohol pours, old people, wedding signage are all great subjects if you have the time.
