Audio

External audio is needed during the ceremony/reception.

A wedding ceremony taking place inside a church with an officiant, bride in white, groom, and bridesmaids and groomsmen standing in a row. The church has wooden paneling, an organ, and pews filled with guests.

Ceremony:

I place the Bcam off to the side or in a balcony so it doesn’t capture me when I’m in the center aisle.

If I have to pick a side, I always favor the side that sees the bride.

I also try to capture at least 1 or 2 rows of guests.

Reception:

Hooking a sound recorder into the DJ booth is sufficient for reception sound.

Always, ask the DJ first to make sure it’s ok.

Generally, they’ll ask for you to have an XLR, RCA, or 1/4 inch (TRS) cable.

During the reception, I always press record on the unmanned B-CAM first. That frees me up to go over to the DJ booth and make sure the audio levels are not peaking. Then I come back with my A-CAM close up and press record.
